For the 1st time, I went on a Post to Post ride ending up at a Pig Roast.
I live in Boca Raton. Met up with a Post 277 (Boca Raton) rider called Darbo (I ride as Buzoo) and road almost 1 hour north to ALR Post 268 in Riviera Beach, Florida to ride with 13 other bikes.
We rode south on the infamous I-95 (Death Trap Alley I call it) to Boca (LOL!! Yup, we came back here) and picked up 12 more ALR Riders. Had a few refreshing drinks, chatted and headed out to Ft. Lauderdale via Dixie Highway to pick up another dozen riders or so. Yup, had a few more libations. Hey, it is hot here in S. Florida. :-)
And no, I do not drink alcohol and ride. We all jumped on I-95 again and headed south to state road 84 where ALR Post 36 was having their Pig Roast.
They know how to cook a pig. There were vendors, a really good band, and of course literally shade tree repair of a '60's bike unclogging a jammed float.
The 50/50 was up to about $400, lots of fund raising activities for the vets, a huge amount of hugs, kisses, and whoop te doo!
I ain't no group ride kind of guy but THIS was FUN!
Oh, on this matter, my post 268 annually around X-mas time raises THOUSANDS of $$$ for the Vets. The $ goes to Walmart and buys $50 Gift Cards for the vets at the West Palm Beach VA Hospital. And get this.........we do it FOR THE VETS personal use. I said their personal use. What do they do wtih the $50 gift Cards? They give it away to others who need the cards more than they do.
This blew my mind! Vets........looking out for others more than themselves. Again.
