If you are planning on riding the USA 4 Corners in 2013 there are some new things planned in the future. As we plan the improvements we are always looking for suggestions, so don't hesitate in posting them here.
First, We hope to improve the application process. You will pay for the Tour and Membership on the same form and mail it in. As you know this is an SCMA event and in order to qualify as a finisher you must be a member. In 2014 we hope to tranform the process and make it an online registration... yes... we are moving toward the 21st century!
Next, the SCMA Board has given direction to improve the quality of the items we provide our rider. We are moving toward reviewing the pins, patches, and stickers for our rider as well as changing to a passport type binder instead of the 3 ring notebook. The passport can be used to have each post office stamp the passport as you travel to each corner. It will have a place for the name and registration number of each rider.
We have other things cooking to make this phenominal ride memorable.
If you have suggestions or input, this is a great place to post ideas, or go to the SCMA website and e-mail any Board member.
Thank you.

Thank you. Steve Shulman Vice Chair, SCMA (aka Kid) Wow....GREAT post. How do you tweak what is already a fantastic ride? I have 1 idea. Maybe it is not a GREAT idea but possible someone will "spin" off of this to something better. ?? If you were standing in the road up in Madawaska, facing the HD Park, the property to the RIGHT I understand is for sale or was for sale and to be turned into a B&B or the like. What if there was a BONUS type ride from that location (or the rider can choose from several predetermined rides or destinations where you ride out, around in Canada or someplace and back to the B&B? This would accomplish several things.: 1) It will allow the rider instead of receiving the USA Four Corners Tour award, they can get the USA Four Corners Tour PLUS award (or the like). 2) It extends the ride even further which is FUN. 3) It helps support the B&B. 4) It likely will help the local economy since riders are apt to have lunch and or dinner up there. 5) It supports Joe LaChances efforts an the volunteers who put the part together and maintain it. On another note, if it is not too dumb (keep in mind, someone can spin off the idea) what it was a ride in and of itself? What if there was a ride called MADAWASKA OR BUST (ok, we can come up with a much better name) where when you stay at the B&B, motel, hotel, whatever it is, for 3 days or more and we were to ride to no less than 5 predetermined destinations in CANADA and the USA? I know ur questions The CaliforniaKid was not directed to or centered around Madawaska but my response was. Did think about the ride in general but drawing blanks. My wife is not around here so I can use the word "blanks". LOL!! BuzzCap7

Hey Buzz... some great suggestions. I was not aware they were going to build something to the right of the park. It is always good to support anything in or near the park and make it part of our ride. The direction I have is to improve the items we give each rider and also improve the notebook sent out after they complete the tour. I really like the 4 Corners pin and I think we may use that artwork on the cover of the notebook to keep the theme consistent. I'd also like to incorporate the True X into some of the materials. We get bombarded by adding new rides and expanding existing rides which we get very excited about. Then someone usually reminds us that keeping up with the tasks the volunteers have now is almost a full-time job... so we come back to earth. As we update and improve our exisiting functions (new web site, on line registration, improved memorabilia) I envision taking on more ride modifications and new rides. Steve

Steve Thank you for your nice comment. And yes, the pin is excellent. Just wondering if u could put my house on the pin. LOL, ok, ok, maybe not. Gotcha my friend............in that case: 1) The cap is like a truckers cap. Personally I would suggest a much better quality cap with a curved "bill". And the rectangular patch on the front of the cap done much better. THAT part makes it look like a cheap truckers cap. Maybe something can be sewn into the cap itself. Not a patch sewn onto the cap. I have a lady in Colorado that does it but we will need to ask for better prices than what I heard she was charging. 2) The Certificate of "Congratulations" is GOOD and made frameable but again in my opinion nothing stands out to make u want to frame and show it off. I will e-mail to you a few IBA certificates that make you accomplishment STAND OUT and then the fine print below it. Know what I mean? At 1st glance, it is all blah. But if something stood out like the logo and "CONGRATULATIONS FOUR CORNERS OF THE USA COMPLETION" or the like so someone walking by can easily read the accomplishment. And most important, the finisher will see it over and over and over. 3) A little different from the above is the advertising of the ride itself. When it is advertised in the SCMA Newsletter or web site, etc.... maybe it should be itemized what you receive. Framable Completion/Finisher Certificate, etc.... maybe it will help entice riders. I am sending the PIX referred to above in just a moment. I LOVE IT, am really impressed when someone looks at tweaking what is already a FANTASTIC ride. One of the many reasons why I like SCMA so much! BuzzCap7
